Had lunch here and really appreciated how thoughtful the setup was. We weren’t squashed into a corner or asked to stay in one area it was all very natural. Staff were upbeat and brought Alfie a fresh bowl of water before we even sat down. Alfie was happy throughout and didn’t get unsettled once. Would recommend for anyone with a dog in tow.
Visited for a weekend stay with Ruby and couldn’t fault a single thing. The pub felt lively but never too noisy or hectic. Ruby got lots of attention from the team which helped her settle quickly. This place doesn’t just say it’s welcomes dogs it actually means it.
After a damp walk, we brought our Labrador here for lunch. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to any dog owner passing through Kendal. Great pub.
We visited The Shakespeare Inn with our border terrier Milo and were pleasantly surprised by how welcoming the staff were from the moment we walked in. They genuinely seemed happy to see him, which made a big difference. The pub had a lovely warm atmosphere and we managed to get a seat by the fireplace which felt like the perfect end to a chilly winter walk. Milo settled quickly, thanks to the quiet space and some gentle fuss from the team. Our meals were exactly what we wanted from a traditional pub and clearly homemade. Definitely a place we’d come back to when we’re in the area again x
Dropped in after walking near Serpentine Woods. The bar had other dogs around which made us feel right at home. Staff gave us water and even a couple of biscuits which our dog was thrilled about. We had mains from the menu and everything arrived hot and generous in portion. The best part was how relaxed it all felt with no rush. We stayed longer than planned just because it was so comfortable.
